Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake occurred on March 11th 2011 and the earthquake intensity of an upper 5 on the Japanese scale was observed in Oarai town. HTTR conducted the confirmation test on cold state in order to ensure the facilities/instruments of reactor building operate normally. In this test, the plant data in the facilities/instruments start-up phase and continue steady operation phase were measured and compared with the previous operation data, and the soundness of facilities/instruments is evaluated. As a result, in after the earthquake, the facilities/instruments operate normally and the reactor cooling function of the HTTR were ensured.

JMTR refurbishment had started since 2007. Refurbishment of instrumentation system has completed on March 2011. Official inspections before operation was carried out 4 times between March 2010 and April 2011. Refurbishment work was carried out in schedule except delay of the last inspection official inspection before operation due to Great East Japan Earthquake. Instrumentation system had used for 42 years since first criticality. Nuclear instrumentation was partly refurbished in 1981 but other instrumentation devices were in service till August 2006. The refurbishment plan was made not only by using original design concept also by considering aging, important degree of safety, availability of change parts, and raising operation rate. Almost all devices were renewal in this refurbishment work in order to be able to use the instrumentation system for 20 year for which JMTR will operate. This report summarized the refurbishment work and future task of JMTR instrumentation system.

In order to prevent radiation accident and its expansion, more integrated management system is required to safety management for radiation workers in the nuclear facilities. Therefore, JAEA (Japan Atomic Energy Agency) and HAM (Hitachi Aloka Medical, Ltd) have developed innovative real-time multi-function entry/exit management system which managed worker's exposed dose and position under the joint developed patent. This system is sharing worker's data among workers and server manager who is inside of or outside of building, such as worker's positing, health condition and exposed dose. It consists of mobile equipments, receivers, LAN, and servers system. This report summarizes the system to be installed in the JMTR.
